MyShrooms

MyShrooms contains a potency of 40% polysaccharides from sustainably farmed organic sources, and tested to be pure USP medicinal grade. Our lab prepares all tinctures from the raw mushroom fruiting body or mycelium source, which allows us to control all aspects of preparation and potency. All raw materials are extensively tested for any impurities, and the final product is additionally tested to ensure potency, consistency and quality.

Dual extraction is a process we use to ensure that all medicinal compounds are released from the cell walls (chitin) of the fungal source. Although hot water extraction is the most common, it does not have the ability to draw out the compounds, such as triterpenes, that are not water soluble. To obtain these medicinal properties, within certain species, we implement both a hot water and an alcohol extraction process to ensure that the finished product contains all active ingredients by dual extraction.

Immune-modulators are substances that can balance the various components and processes of the immune system, and its response towards protecting the body. They can change the behaviour and recognition capabilities within the immune system, either by inducing, enhancing or suppressing an immune response. Mushrooms contain polysaccharides, beta-glucans and triterpenes, which provide immune modulating responses, accompanied with anti-inflammatory capabilities. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1160565/

Polysaccharides are complex, structurally diverse molecules with wide-ranging physical and chemical properties. They help the body adapt to a variety of stressors, stimulate immune function and to maintain optimum health levels. They act as carriers of other nutrients, delivering them to where they are needed most, to increase bioavailability and ensure maximum benefits.

Beta-Glucans are polysaccharides that act to stimulate and regulate the immune system. They help to naturally enhance the immune system by optimizing its response to diseases and infections. Beta-Glucans stimulate the activity of macrophages, which are immune cells that ingest and destroy invading pathogens and stimulate other immune cells into action.

Adaptogens are compounds that safely increase the body’s resistance to physical (heat, cold and exertion), chemical (toxins and heavy metals) and biological (bacteria and viruses) stressors and health challenges. They help normalize the body’s stress response so that it does not overreact to extreme physical, mental, emotional or chemical stress which depletes cells of vital energy.  Adaptogens also have different effects on different people, depending on the body’s needs.

Benefits of Medicinal Mushrooms

  • Fungi have been on earth for approximately 1.3 billion years, and humans followed quite a few hundred million years later.
  • Fungi also breathe oxygen like humans, and we share on average 50% of the same DNA. With this connection, we can easily utilize numerous compounds from fungi to enhance our health and natural immunity.
  • They have many more years of experience in recognizing, fighting and building defences against the same disease-causing pathogens that impact our health.
  • Modern science continues to recognize the capabilities of the medicinal compounds found in fungi and is now validating the practices and knowledge that has been passed on from our ancestors.
  • Numerous prescription medications are developed from fungi such as penicillin, antibiotics, antifungals, anti-rejections, statins for cholesterol (lovastatin), immune modulators, cancer drugs and many more.
  • Mushrooms require and naturally contain the essential building blocks required for health and longevity, including vitamins B complex, C and D, amino acids, enzymes and minerals such as iron, phosphorous, copper, potassium, germanium and selenium.
